Check out the best Mother’s Day gift ever!

I’m flying out this morning for a week in Madrid, so I showered my little one with hugs and kisses early this morning while we watched the sweet video that my husband Zac made me on my second Mother’s Day. He’s seriously good at gift-giving. (Thanks, honey!)

And happy Mother’s Day to my caring and HILARIOUS Momma. You’re the best (at making pies, telling stories, and picking out greeting cards that are actually funny)!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mommas today! What are your plans to celebrate? I’d love to hear!

The Busby Foundation put on an outstanding benefit concert and crawfish boil Saturday night, raising money to provide support to families of persons afflicted with ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease). The line-up included music by Pat Green and William Clark Green, and appearances by Washington Redskins quarterback Colt McCoy, NFL wide receiver Quan Cosby, and many more. I was excited to be asked back this year to photograph the event alongside Fuller Fotography.

In light of 2014 Masters Tournament this week, this is a golf post:Zac-+-Judah-puttingZac’s dad (aka ‘Papa’) visited this weekend, and Judah got his first set of real golf clubs out of the deal!  (Thanks Papa!)  We spent the day at the golf course Saturday and the weather was PERFECT.  I’m not a golfer (yet!), but I think this is a sport I could get behind.  I LOVE to be outside for any reason at all…. oh the breeze and fresh air… aaahhhh.

The Reliques SXSW 2014.website (3 of 5)Every year, Austin, Texas hosts a huge music-film-and beyond festival where artists and creatives from all over the world congregate to share their latest work and celebrate together.  Behind the scenes of the official SXSW festivities, bands perform unofficial shows that anyone can come and enjoy.  Just about every square inch of real estate downtown is transformed into a music venue and open their doors to the public.  St. David’s Episcopal Church was no exception.

Last Monday night, Sarah Monteen and Sarah Dossey of The Reliques released their lastest cd “Leaving Montgomery”.   It’s SO GOOD.  You should definitely check them out.

Wolf Creek for web (1 of 6)^^moon view  from our condo! ^^

This week we took a family vacation to ski in Colorado with great friends.  Every time I go to Colorado I am surprised again at how beautiful the whole state is.  Holy smokes!  Judah loved all the “rock formations”…. his words: not even lying… He learned that from his Cars book where Mater is hanging out in the desert.  This kid has an amazing memory.

Wolf Creek is a great place for a family ski trip.  It’s small enough to find each other quickly, but still has great options for skiers of all levels.  We even rented skis for Judah for a day for just $13 bucks!  He’s still too small for a lesson, so Zac and I just took turns dragging him next to the ski lodge.  He loved skiing “like a big boy”.

Wolf Creek for web (5 of 6)Wolf Creek for web (4 of 6)Judah is 2 1/2 now, and Zac and I are learning the ropes of vacationing as parents.  I have to admit, before the trip I was a little concerned about feeling frustrated that I wouldn’t be able to ski much myself.  (I LOVE TO SKI!)  It’s true that life changes a lot after becoming a parent, and there are a lot of things that parents give up to care for their children well.  However, I’m learning more everyday that what you give up to parent is so much less than what you gain.  Seeing Judah bundled into a marshmallow and rolling around in the snow screaming at the top of his lungs brings me so much joy.  I can’t wait until he can ski alongside us!

A huge thanks to our dearest friends Brady and Aimee for inviting us along.  We loved spending the week with old and new friends.

P.S. Judah was such a champ on the 15 hour drive home yesterday.  What a great guy!
